Summary
This Office of Inspector General (OIG) Healthcare Facility Inspection program report describes the results of a focused evaluation of the care provided at the Salisbury VA Health Care System in North Carolina.
This evaluation focused on five key domains:
• Culture
• Environment of care
• Patient safety
• Integrated veteran care
• Veteran-centered safety net
The OIG made two recommendations for VA to correct identified issues in one domain:
• Environment of care
o Clean environment
o Privacy curtains
The Director takes appropriate actions to maintain a clean environment to reduce the risk of infection, in accordance with Veterans Health Administration Directive 1608(1), Comprehensive Environment of Care Program.
The Director takes appropriate actions so staff change privacy curtains to reduce the risk of infection and supervisors monitor compliance, in accordance with the facility’s Infection Prevention and Control Manual.
