Combined Assessment Program Review of the Wilmington VA Medical Center Wilmington, Delaware

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we provided crime awareness briefings to 201 employees. This review focused on seven operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following two activities (1) medication management and (2) physician credentialing and privileging. The facility’s reported accomplishments were the receipt of a Silver Cornerstone Award for patient safety and the Hospice initiative for Homeless and Rural Veterans. We made recommendations for improvement in the following five activities: Environment of care. QM. Management of multidrug-resistant organisms. Management of test results. Coordination of care.
