Summary

Summary
The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, OIG provided crime awareness briefings to 101 employees. This review focused on seven operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following four activities: (1) colorectal cancer screening, (2) coordination of care, (3) moderate sedation, and (4) QM. The facility’s reported accomplishments were the implementation of The Green House® model as a new and innovative approach for veterans needing skilled care and the construction of a Healing Garden for community living center residents, which incorporates access to nature in a therapeutic setting. OIG made recommendations for improvement in the following three activities: (1) environment of care, (2) polytrauma, and (3) medication management.
