Summary

Summary
The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, OIG provided crime awareness briefings to 41 employees. This review focused on seven operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following three activities: (1) management of workplace violence, (2) physician credentialing and privileging, and (3) registered nurse competencies. The facility’s reported accomplishments were a reduction in the length of inpatient psychiatric stays and being a national model for the VA peer service program. OIG made recommendations for improvement in the following four activities: (1) coordination of care, (2) QM, (3) environment of care, and (4) enteral nutrition safety.
