Combined Assessment Program Review of the Coatesville VA Medical Center Coatesville, Pennsylvania

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we provided crime awareness briefings to 332 employees. This review focused on six operational activities. The facility complied with selected standards in the following two activities (1) coordination of care and (2) QM. The facility’s reported accomplishments were the receipt of a Gold Cornerstone Award for patient safety and the production of a quick reference tri-fold for emergency preparedness. We made recommendations for improvement in the following four activities: Environment of care. Physician credentialing and privileging. Management of test results. Management of multidrug-resistant organisms.
